Have you ever seen a puppy dragging its bottom on the floor hoping to get some relief of a hard to reach itch? This is exactly what it feels like to have pinworms. Itching near the rectum mostly at night is the key symptom. Pinworms are contagious and can be spread when an infected person sleeps in the bed with an uninfected person. Pinworms look like white, thin worms that will surface when the infected person is sleeping. Sometimes the presence and irritation that is caused by pinworms can cause inflammation and sometimes infection from scratching. If you are worried that your child has pinworms then give our office a call and we can have one of our providers take care of them!
